I played this song at funerals for my son Noa Andrew, b. 8/20/96 d 10/21/96, and my daughter Claire Nichole b. 2/11/03 d. 2/15/03. It is a very strong and meaningful song weather you are a fan of country music or not. To this day I have a hard time hearing it just because of the memories it invokes, but the theory of the song is that, sure it hurts, but would it be worth it to lose the pain, if you had to lose the memories?
"I could have missed the pain, but I'd have had to miss the dance"
Just a suggestion...I'm surprised I don't see it on here...It's a beautiful song. I have even downloaded the World Trade Center version.
The Dance Garth Brooks
Looking back on the memory of The dance we shared 'neath the stars above For a moment all the world was right How could I have known that you'd ever say goodbye
And now I'm glad I didn't know The way it all would end the way it all would go Our lives are better left to chance I could have missed the pain But I'd of had to miss the dance
Holding you I held everything For a moment wasn't I a king But if I'd only known how the king would fall Hey who's to say you know I might have changed it all
And now I'm glad I didn't know The way it all would end the way it all would go Our lives are better left to chance I could have missed the pain But I'd of had to miss the dance
Yes my life is better left to chance I could have missed the pain but I'd of had to miss the dance
I don't have a story but everyone I know just loves this song and how life goes for most of us that have lost something but were glad we had the chance to experience it.
It is so beautiful, and every time I hear it I cry.
"And now I'm glad I didn't know The way it all would end the way it all would go Our lives are better left to chance I could have missed the pain But I'd have had to miss the dance Yes my life is better left to chance I could have missed the pain but I'd have had to miss the dance"
