One More Light by Linkin Park

What do you think?

Rest In Peace Chester Bennington  (lead singer of Linkin Park) March 20 1976 – July 20 2017

“I tried so hard and got so far, but in the end it doesn’t even matter. I had to fall to lose it all, but in the end it doesn’t even matter.”

The concept of ‘One More Light’ was inspired by the passing of a long time friend of the band from cancer. Linkin Park’s Mike Shinoda explained “It’s kind of sad… a friend of ours who worked for the label passed away. She got cancer and it was, like, really, really fast. It was super sad. The point of the song is that through something really, really traumatic…one of the most important things you can do is to let people know that you care.”

Chester Bennington told Genius.com “The lyrics are an example of what life is, which is a series of events that are challenging. The perspective was we’re going to turn these ordeals into adventures. It just turned out that ‘One More Light,’ even though it was a difficult song and kind of the most emotionally heavy song, also had the most uplifting title in my opinion.”

Lyrics

Should’ve stayed, were there signs, I ignored?
Can I help you, not to hurt, anymore?
We saw brilliance, when the world, was asleep
There are things that we can have, but can’t keep
If they say
Who cares if one more light goes out?
In a sky of a million stars
It flickers, flickers
Who cares when someone’s time runs out?
If a moment is all we are
We’re quicker, quicker
Who cares if one more light goes out?
Well I do
The reminders pull the floor from your feet
In the kitchen, one more chair than you need oh
And you’re angry, and you should be, it’s not fair
Just ’cause you can’t see it, doesn’t mean it, isn’t there
If they say

Who cares if one more light goes out?
In a sky of a million stars
It flickers, flickers
Who cares when someone’s time runs out?
If a moment is all we are
We’re quicker, quicker
Who cares if one more light goes out?
Well I do
Who cares if one more light goes out?
In a sky of a million stars
It flickers, flickers
Who cares when someone’s time runs out?
If a moment is all we are
We’re quicker, quicker
Who cares if one more light goes out?
Well I do
Well I do
