Song for Mom by Jon Barker

What do you think?
In My Mother's Eye's by Jon Barker

by JON BARKER
(RETFORD, UK)

This is a song I wrote when a dear friend lost his Mother. Other friends of mine have played it at their Mother’s funeral and said it is perfect.

Lyrics

Not a single day goes by without my thinking of her,
In a word, or a phrase, or a fragrance on the breeze,
Not a single day goes by without my wondering,
Why the Lord took her away, why He took her away.
Leaving me with memories,
Though the memories are few,
She was the only one who knew me.
In my Mother’s eyes, I was an angel,
In my Mother’s eyes, I was all a child could be,
In my Mother’s eyes, I could see dreams floating by,
In my Mother’s eyes, there were only tears of joy.
Eyes that shined for me, bright as the sun,
Eyes that could only see the good in everyone.

And my Mother’s eyes, they could see through me,
No sense hiding lies from eyes I adored,
And as long as I live,
There’s nothing I wouldn’t give
To see my Mother’s eyes once more.
In my Mother’s eyes, there was such pride in me,
In my Mother’s eyes, I could do no wrong,
In my Mother’s eyes there was such wisdom,
In my Mother’s eyes, it was there that I belonged.
Eyes that shined for me,
Bright as the sun,
Eyes that could only see the good in everyone.
In my Mother’s eyes, she understood me,
Like no other eyes could ever see,
Ask no questions, tell no lies,
I can feel my Mother’s eyes,
Still watching, still watching, still watching,
Over me.
